  • Tenaja Falls Trail - Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve Visitor’s Center

What you need to know for our next hike:

Where: Tenaja Falls Trail

When: June 17th at 8:00am

Meeting Location: Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve Visitor’s Center (Directions)

What to bring: Hiking shoes and socks, head covering, extra water, backpack, snacks, epi-pen if needed

What to expect: We are meeting at the visitor’s center parking lot and are driving a few vehicles down to the trailhead since the road is a little damaged from the weather. It takes another 30 minutes from the visitor’s center to drive to the trailhead, and it’s a gorgeous route! Craig will have his truck and I will be driving my SUV down – which I have done several times – and I can fit a total of seven people. There will be poison oak along the trail so a good rule of thumb is “leaves of three, let them be”. We will have to cross over a river to follow the trail up to the falls. By the time we go, the water should be low enough that it isn’t any sort of an issue crossing, and we likely won’t even get our shoes wet. There is a steady incline up to the falls, but it is a relatively short hike there and back. The trail is a bit rocky and has portions in and out of the shaded areas. Once we get up to the falls, though, we can enjoy panoramic views of chaparral filled mountains and vistas and have a little picnic while bathing in the ambiance of it all. You can also check the attached flyer for more details.

RSVP: Please respond and let me know either way if you will be able to join us on this month’s hike no later than next Sunday, June 11th.
